Most garden ponds, even in towns, are visited at some time by Herons, which can speedily empty them of fish. The Scarecrow is the answer to the problem. An infra-red detector picks up the arrival of the intruder before it has had time to settle, activating a sprinkler head on top of the unit which delivers a short, sharp jet of water in the ponds direction. The shock element is immense, but the Heron is not harmed. The Scarecrow is connected to an ordinary garden hose, and the infra-red unit is powered by a long-lasting battery.
